We had a huge block party with live music Friday night in El Dorado.
We gave away over 1200 hot dogs and 30 pizzas. I had two of my regular singers sing and then I invited a couple of 15 year old girls to sing who are trying to break into the business. We ended with a Christian rock band that I'm still concerned about. They want me to take them on again as their booking agent.
My concern is how much true ministry is done with the rocky music. The kids reacted like ants at a picnic swarming around jumping like they had pogo sticks.
I've been to several events where the kids react to the Christian music just like they do at a rock concert. I question whether this is true ministry or just emotionalism.
My favorite is still contemporary Christian where you can understand ever word the singer sings and they don't have blarring electric guitars.
Aaron Sidwell and I went to the Kansas Sampler Festival in Newton today. He was schedule to sing tomorrow also but we decided that diffinently wasn't his arena. Too much country and bluegrass music. He was diffinently the one with the most vocal ability but, the crowds weren't gathering at his tent like they were the square dancers and country music.
We have decided not to waste our time going back tomorrow.
