Hello from Kansas! Have a blessed day! Join me on an radio show sometime!

Nostalgia isn't what it's cracked up to be sometimes

I have very fond memories of junior high and high school.

Two years ago, I got to meet up with a couple of guys who have remained best friends and I had great times with them in the 60's. They told my husband that he had his hands full if I was anything like I was back then.

Yet I've had some serious disappointments when renewing old friendships from high school.

There was one girl that I had known since 6th grade. We even went to the same Baptist church and were in youth group together.

I went to her house, she came to mine. Our sisters were friends. We even bought a matching outfit. We made costumes together. We were in a couple talents shows together.

We thought we had a lot in common because she was being raised by aunts and I was being raised by adopted grandparents.

When I went back to L.A. two years ago, I tried to catch up with her. I had hoped she could meet for dinner with the other two guys and their wives.

The restuarant we met at was walking distance from my old house. It was a great Mexican restuarant that was where a floral shop use to be.

We talked on the phone for awhile and she said she had prior committments.

We had corresponded a little by email but the phone conversation went no where. We didn't connect. She didn't seem to remember all the fun times that I remembered. She hadn't kept up with the other girls in our group even though she had only moved a few miles from our old houses.

I always thought, if I had stayed in L.A. that I would have kept in touch with my high school friends. Some have, some haven't.

Jack Harrison is one of those guys that has tried to reconnect and keep in touch with old classmates. He wrote me a couple weeks ago that another girlfriend that I had lost contact with recently died. Am I really getting old enough for my friends to be dying??

Bless you Jack for the memories.
