I want to thank Leslie Turvey for introducing me to Ron Dart's ministry and his Born to Win radio program. I have him scheduled on KHIB and he has some great teaching. I had a chance to listen to a full sermon the other day while I was downloading new programs and music. He did a teaching on Christmas and Easter being pagan and how we should celebrate the feasts of the Bible.
He had a way with words that was so comforting. I've known about the pagan roots for many years but, the way he taught it reinforced my beliefs in why I'm a non-conformist in this world.
It's often very hard not to partake of the world's ways. I try to hibernate the month of December so I don't get asked, "Have you finished your Christmas shopping".
Everyone assumes when you are in a store shopping that time of year that you are getting presents.
I was in a nice dept. store in early November and I had a nice shirt and tie giftwrapped for our anniversary. The clerk said, "Oh, you're starting your Christmas shopping early."
I've been doing some research on birthdays and a lot of what we do to celebrate them is pagan in origin.
Keeping the Sabbath on Saturday is especially hard. Most all of my friends are Sunday worshippers. I have a few that are Seventh Day Adventists. I'm not friends with the people in my church. They are either parents with very young children or they are olders folks. (I'm older but, I don't act it)
My friends go to church on Sunday and then do whatever they want the rest of the day. I don't know anyone that really keeps the Sabbath Holy like the 10 Commandments says.
