I've sat all week, glued to the TV set watching places that I lived for years struggle through the aftermath of Katrina.

I'm 900 miles away and know that I would have no place to stay and may not be able to get gas and food when I get there but I still want to go see my beloved Gulfport/Biloxi.

My 23 year old son has a sense of loss because he spent the first 14 years of his life there.

He wants to go see his childhood home. It's just not possible now.

I moved back to Gulfport in 1981 when I found out that I was pregnant with him. I left when I remarried in 1996.
